Plus, don’t even get me started with all the incredible fjords you should visit.  The whole country is a proper goldmine of places that every traveller should see.

1.) Visit the Briksdalsbreen Glacier

15 Beautiful Places In Norway You Have To Visit (8)
Possibly one of the easiest glaciers to visit around Stryn, the Briksdalsbreen Glacier is truly one of the best places in Norway you should see. The Glacier itself is actually an ‘offshoot’ or arm of the much larger, Jostedalsbreen glacier which is also amazing to see (but harder to get to). So if you’re looking for a challenge, maybe look for another route/glacier.
As I mentioned, It’s a pretty easy glacier to see if you’re struggling with some of Norway’s more challenging hikes, especially due to the troll cars that will take you up to the top. If you do decide to hike, it’s a pretty short 45-60 minutes to the glacier.

2.) Drive the Trollstigen

Between the villages of Åndalsnes and Valldal is the gorgeous Trollstigen drive. Possibly, the most well-known road in Norway, it really is a stunning route to drive.
Along your way, make a pit-stop at the Trollstigen platform for some epic views across the valleys.

Make sure to visit the tiny little fishing village of Hamnøy which is the oldest in Lofoten. Perched on the edge of the Reinefjord (fjord), it really is a place you shouldn’t miss.

4.) Atlanterhavsveien

The Atlanterhavsveien is known as ”The Road in the Ocean”, with seven bridges that           allows theroad to follow the islands in the sea likea snake. The Atlanterhavsveien takes you on  a unique journey close to the powerful Atlantic Ocean. This Norwegian Scenic             Route opened in 1989, and is considered the most beautiful road trip in the world by some, thanks to the combination of modern engineering and spectacular natural surroundings. The road was chosen as the Norwegian Construction of the Century in 2005, and takes you on a journey through moorland, fertile cultural landscape, weather beaten bays and islands.

5.) The Midnight Sun

It’s tempting to wonder about all the sights and experiences that have been made under the midnight sun through the ages – by people living off the sea at the Lofoten and Vesterålen archipelagos, or the Sami reindeer herders of the far north.Visitors to northern Norway during the winter are obsessed with hunting for the northern lights, but in the summer the focus turns to the midnight sun.The midnight sun is simply the phenomenon whereby the sun doesn't set for a period of time. At the Arctic Circle it's just around the time of the Summer Solstice, but at the North Pole the sun doesn't set for a full six months

6.) Saltstraumen

You can Saltstraumen experience the world’s strongest maelstrom just 33 km from Bodø. Visit when the tide is at its highest and marvel at the forces of nature. Every six hours, 400 mill m3 of water rush through the 150 m wide and 3 km long sound connecting the Saltfjord and the Skjerstadfjord at speeds of up to 20 knots. The mighty whirlpools that are formed by this phenomenon can be up to 10 m in diameter and 4-5 m deep. The tide is caused by the attraction of the moon here on Earth, and therefore it is the tide and the phases of the moon that determine when the current is at its strongest. The greatest difference between high and low tides occurs in March, and the current is at its strongest when there is a full moon.

Alesund is one of the west coasts bigger cities (though, again, pretty small by international standards). Stay in the town and hike to the top of Fjellstua Viewpoint, visit Aksla Mountain and gorge at Sjobua for some amazing local foods.
